Paralakhemundi: Parala Maharaja Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb, who was taken to Vizag on Sunday night, was shifted to Chennai for treatment today.

On Sunday, a three-member team, led by the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), which had gone to the king's palace to examine his health condition, recommended shifting him to Chennai.

A personal secretary to the king and two other assistants are accompanying the king.

Notably, talks did the rounds that the Parala Maharaja was put under house arrest in his palace by some staff who want to usurp his properties.

On Sunday, the younger brother of the king Sarbagyana Jagannath Gajapati Deb, who stays in Bangalore, had alleged that manager of the king’s Pratisthana Ananga Manjari Patra had put the Maharaja under house arrest.

However, the manager of the king’s Pratisthana refuted the allegation saying, “It is a rumour. The Maharaja is fit and fine. The daughter of the king and the Puri Gajapati had asked the Maharaja to take rest for one year and not go outside the palace. Even during the Rath Yatra, they had suggested the Parala Gajapati to ask the Raj Purohit (royal priest) to undertake the Chhera Panhara ceremony.”

“After the demise of Deb’s only son, the younger brother of the Maharaja is attempting to grab the properties located in Paralakhemundi and Chennai. These talks are being spread in the media as part of a conspiracy," she had alleged.
