Paradip: The Paradip Port here has created a record by handling 24 ships in the last 24 hours, port authorities said.

The port handled the 24 vessels from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am today with nine of them being in the first phase. Sources said the port handled seven vessels in the second shift and eight in the third phase.

While 12 out of the 24 vessels anchored at the port, 10 sailed out and two were redirected from the port.

Harbour Master Atulya Mohapatra took charge of the ship handling. The port authorities attributed the achievement to the hard work by the port employees and staff.

"The port created history by handling all-time high 24 ships in 24 hours. The port has recently increased its efficiency as part of the extension plan. Night navigation of vessels was introduced for 16 berths," said an official.
