Bhubaneswar: Disregard to Lord Jagannath and holy basil plant (Tulsi) has cost dear for stand-up comedian and Odia cine star Tatwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu Pom Pom as the activists of Lulu Sena threw ink at him at Cuttack road here today.

The major embarrassment came for the comic actor when he was returning from a shooting location today. The ardent supporters of the late Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra laced ink on his face and body even after the expelled BJD leader begged excuse by holding ears inside his car.

In his reaction, Papu Pom Pom said, “I am not angry with the youths who thrown ink at me. I feel bad about them as they misused the youth power. I believe the youths have not understood the matter before throwing ink at me. Was the matter such serious that ink should be thrown at me? Or they wanted publicity.”

The Jagannath Sena, an outfit fighting for the protection of Jagannath culture, had lodged a complaint yesterday at Sea Beach police station demanding his arrest. The sena activists, who burnt effigies of the popular star near Swargadwar raising slogans against him, also had demanded that he must prostrate before Singhadwar and beg excuse.

vlcsnap-2016-11-30-13h18m07s148For the sake of comedy, the actor had said on Stageat the concluding ceremony of Beach Festival in Puri that Basil plant, on which dog urinates is offered to Lord Jagannath. “Who prays Lord Jagannath, he would take rebirth as canine. Because, Tulsi is offered to the Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Lord Vishnu after dog grants it”, Papu had said satirically.

The famous comedian, who was arrested in June on charge of sexually harassing a minor girl after promising to give her a break in films, was released from jail after High Court granted him conditional bail on August 10.
