Bhubaneswar: For the upcoming three-tier panchayat polls in Odisha, the State Election Commission (SEC) has identified 8,491 booths as hyper-sensitive. Moreover, while polls are being conducted for 92,032 wards, 18,931 booths have been identified as sensitive.

In Kandhamal district, maximum 1,076 booths are identified as hyper-sensitive, while Cuttack district has the most number of sensitive booths with 1,841.

According to sources, close circuit television cameras (CCTV) and videography provisions have been made for these sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths.

As per the SEC, fund provisions are made for CCTV and videography and all the district collectors have been directed regarding the same.

“For the hyper-sensitive booths security will be beefed up and at least one ASI or above-rank officer will be present. Even in sensitive booths, the scale of security will be heightened. We have also classified polling stations with higher cluster of booths as sensitive and hyper sensitive. The above classification has been made on the information from the police department, collector and taking into account the poll history. These classifications are subject to change in future,” said SEC secretary, Rabindranath Sahoo.
