Panchayat official looted of Rs 5L at gunpoint

Angul: Unidentified miscreants looted Rs 5 lakh from a panchayat official at gunpoint near Kahalgaon under Bantala police limits in Angul district today.

As per the complaint, while Khinda panchayat official Prashant Sahu was going towards Khinda from his village riding pillion on motorcycle carrying Rs 5 lakh cash meant for pension beneficiaries and construction of toilets. Two bike-borne miscreants intercepted Sahu near a bridge at Kahalgaon and later snatched the cash from him by brandishing gun before fleeing from the spot.

The Panchayat official brought the matter to the notice of Angul BDO and later lodged a complaint at the Bantala police station. Police reached the spot and started investigation into the incident. Search is on to nab the accused, police said.
