Panchayat official found drunk in office

Bonai: In a bizarre incident, a sub collector today caught a village level worker (VLW) fallen asleep in a drunken state during office hours.

As per sources, Bonai Sub Collector Swadhadeb Singh caught the executive officer Ranjan Patra in an inebriated condition during a surprise check to the Jhirdapali gram panchayat office following complaints from the locals about his unprofessional attitude.

The VLW has been accused of financial irregularities in the panchayat funds and also of being drunk during office hours.

“After receiving complaints regarding the case, I visited the office and found the official drunk. I have asked for his blood test and accordingly will submit recommendation to the collector for his immediate suspension,” the sub collector said.
