Over hundred taken ill after eating MDM in Khurda

Khurda: Over hundred students of a primary school here were taken ill after eating food served in the mid-day meal (MDM) program today.

According to sources, some students of the Deulatangi Model Primary School here complained of vomiting and nausea after consuming the food served in the MDM. Soon after, the Headmaster and other school staff admitted the affected students to Khurda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

Meanwhile, it is alleged that substandard quality of eggs that were served in the MDM caused such health complications among the students.

Sources said the eggs will be sent for quality test after which the exact cause of the incident could be ascertained.

Later in the day the headmistress of the school was suspended over the incident.
