Cuttack: Healthcare services were affected at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack today after outsourced workers launched a ceasework agitation demanding permanent employment for more than 130 employees.

"Our demand is for same wages for same work, permanent employment for those who have worked for 7 years and more, and provision of facilities similar to what government employees get," said an employee.

The protesting employees have claimed that for last 3 years they have been working at a meagre salary of Rs 3,795 per month.

The matter was even brought to the notice of the higher authorities, however, no steps were taken towards it, the employees alleged.

Many patients have also not been able to get their X-rays done as the department has remained closed for last four days.
