Sambalpur: A second year student of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) today alleged that he was ragged by senior students of the institute.

The authorities, however, said it was not a case of ragging and the matter was amicably settled.

Somya Ranjan, the student, claimed that he was attacked in his hostel by some 4th year students for not standing from seat after seeing him in the class room on Wednesday.

He took up the issue first with the authorities and then the police.

Associate Dean R K Pattnaik said, "It is not a case of ragging. It is conflict among students. We have called the parents of the students of both the parties over the issue."

Inspector-in-charge of Burla police station Tophan Bag said that guardians of both sides had come to the police station and the issue was resolved amicably.

No case has been registered in this connection, he said.
