Bhubaneswar: In what may prove to be a big relief to the ‘slide-up’ students who were not able to take admission into Plus III courses, Odisha government has issued a fresh notification on providing another chance to the students. They will now get a chance for admission in the slide-up Degree Plus III colleges under Student Academic Management System (SAMS).

Unaware of the slide-up admission system, many students remained without taking admission into the colleges. However, after a special report was telecast on OTV, the government has now released a special slide-up case admission in Degree Colleges for students still awaiting to get into colleges.

A letter by Higher Education department Joint Secretary B Parameswaram stated," Students who had slid up to higher option but have not taken admission during the scheduled admission period, will now be allowed to take admission in the higher preference college where he/she has got selected."

The HE department has directed the Principals of Degree and Autonomous Colleges to complete all the admissions relating to slide-up matter as soon as possible." The College Leaving Certificate (CLC), generated along with the intimation letter will be valid for this purpose and colleges are requested to accept this,” it stated.

If no vacancies exist to accommodate the ‘slide-up’ students, then the college can create more seats above the sanctioned seats for this academic year only.

The principals would be personally held responsible in case any slide-up student continues in the previous colleges after the CLC is generated.

The notification further said that the last date for ROI (Return of Intermediate) submission at University is likely to get closed in the near future. It is therefore advisable for students to join in the higher preference college immediately.

Students who have applied through online Common Application Form (CAF) can submit necessary documents, including photocopy of their applicant's copy and marksheet for admission into colleges.

The notification also said students are directed to go to the choice of their college and apply on offline mode. Admission will be done purely on merit basis as there will be no special weightage or reservation in this phase.

"In the offline mode, if the student was selected in the applied college to take admission on October 14, 2017, but has not joined due to various reasons, those cases will be considered provided vacant seats exist," read the notification.
