Sundargarh: Odisha Vigilance, on Saturday, initiated a probe into allegations of ‘no percentage no work’ in Subdega block and Sadar area of Sundergarh district after OTV reported it recently.

As per reports, Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) beneficiaries of Sundargarh Sadar and Subdega block had to pay some percentage to receive the money for construction of their houses.

After Vigilance DG RP Sharma instructed a probe on the matter, a team led by Sambalpur Vigilance SP Harekrishna Behera reached Hamirpur panchayat under Subdega block and interrogated the beneficiaries personally.

Talking to OTV, Behera said, “We arrived at Sudarshanpur village under Hamirpur panchayat in Subdega and visited the house of Josinta Kullu, who had been allotted a house under IAY in 2015. As per her statement she had not given any money during work order but paid Rs 15,000 in subsequent stages. We are interrogating the Executive Officer and GRS of the panchayat and have asked for a beneficiaries list from the block office after which further action will be taken.

Executive Officer of the panchayat, Sukadeb Dash said, “We cannot say if any middleman is taking the amount from the beneficiaries as the money is distributed to the beneficiaries through cheque.”
