Bolangir: Taking stringent action in the Bolangir Sattu scam, the district Collector today barred the Maa Sabitri Self Help Group (SHG) from supplying Sattu.

Collector Ashish Thakre imposed the restriction on the Maa Sabitri SHG of Sialabahali village from producing and supplying Sattu meant for children and pregnant women of the district. However, the probe into the financial transaction of the SHG will continue.

"After inquiry, the Maa Sabitri SHG has been disengaged from Sattu supply on the basis of food testing and Sub-Collector's inquiry reports. The SHG has failed to meet the basic parameters in terms of quality and certain procedures. However, a detailed inquiry is still on into Sattu scam allegation," said Thakre.

In may be mentioned here that OTV had first exposed the scam after it was revealed through Right to Information (RTI). The RTI data revealed that purchase bills of various ingredients for Sattu preparation mentions name of a shop situated on Bolangir Main Road which actually does not exist in the whole district. And, Maa Sabitri SHG was the lone customer of Ganesh Kirana Store, that is only present on pen and paper from 2011 to 2015. It is alleged that the SHG has received over Rs 1.43 crore through fake bills.

Following the reports, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Odisha Assembly started investigation into the scam.
