Bhubaneswar/Surat: The State Crime Branch probing the Oscar chit fund scam has reportedly received a clue that the scam tainted firm had fraudulently sold one of its office buildings in Surat, where a diamond factory is currently running.
The owner of the factory, however, feigned ignorance about the past ownership record of the building. "I was unaware about the real ownership of the building. Later, I came to know that it belongs to the Oscar company", he said.
A month after remaining locked since February, 2015, the office building was sold off, CB sources said. The investigating agency has also got a clue that one Deepak Khatri had prepared fake documents of the building to sell it. Khatri had also allegedly sold most of the properties of the company in Surat with forged documents, sources added.
On the other hand, trouble mounted for the arrested company CMD Prabhas Rout as a complaint has been lodged at Gosani Nuagaon police station by some depositors against his son.
Priya Rout, the son of Prabhas, had allegedly threatened to kill some depositors from Maharastra and Odisha.
"He threatened us to vacate the place. He threatened to blow us up in if we continue with our demand for the invested money," a woman depositor said.
Priya, however, denied the charge saying that he had not met any of the investors ever. “I neither know them nor have threatened any one. This is a false allegation levelled against me. If it is proved, I am ready to accept any punishment." Priya told OTV over phone.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch is reported to have acquired the video footage aired by OTV on Tuesday, which shows some Ollywwod stars including Uttam Mohanty, Papu Pom Pom, Lipi and Jina promoting the company in a grand function.
