Orissa High Court stays Nuapada NAC polls

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today put a stay on the election in the Nuapada notified area council (NAC), a notification for which was scheduled to be published by the State Election Commission (SEC) on March 9.

The court passed the interim order while hearing a petition filed over ward reservation. It has fixed March 12 as the next date of hearing.

Following the court stay order, the SEC will no more issue a notification for poll in the Nuapada NAC, informed sources.

Earlier, on March 6, the SEC had announced that elections in Nuapada, Hindol and Atabira NACs will be held on April 3.
