BJD’s Rajya Sabha MP Prasanna Acharya had filed a petition in 2014 following his defeat to Sahu in the general polls citing irregularities in counting of votes.

Meanwhile, Acharya welcomed the verdict of the court and said, “It’s a right decision in view of the vacant Bijepur seat. The decision has paved the way for the Bijepur bypoll which is needed to be conducted within six months.”
