Bhubaneswar: Uproarious scenes were witnessed in the Odisha Assembly yet again on Wednesday with both Opposition and ruling party members shouting slogans in the House.

As soon as the House assembled for the day’s business, Congress and BJP members stormed into the well of the House and shouted slogans while wearing black aprons. They were demanding the dismissal of Justice MM Das, chairman of the chit-fund commission, and resignation of the Food and Supply minister Sanjay Das Burma.

Countering the move of the Opposition, BJD members shouted slogans demanding resignation of the Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra while standing near their seats.

Unable to run the House, Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the House till 12.30 pm.

Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said, “I had asked some specific questions to the Chief Minister, but he does not have courage to reply to them.”

He further stated, “The ruling party is showing their brute power, which does not bode well for the democracy.”

In his reaction, BJD spokesperson Pratap Jena said, “The Leader of the Opposition is repeatedly giving wrong information in the House. He does not have a right to speak until tenders an apology in the Assembly.”

Notably, on Tuesday, Mishra had asked the chief minister to clarify whether the bank account number 10091755246 in the State Bank of India’s main branch in Bhubaneswar belongs to the Biju Janata Dal and what kind of involvement he has with this account. He had alleged a hefty amount of Rs 8 crore was found to have been deposited in this account on a single day.

“Who deposited this money? From which account the money was transferred to this account? Is this SBI account a ghost account?” Mishra had asked in the assembly.
