Bhubaneswar: Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) has added yet another feather to its cap by achieving the highest annual Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 84.5% among all the state sector thermal power units in the country in the 2015-2016 fiscal.

As per the report of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ib Thermal Power Station of OPGC has achieved the highest PLF of 84.5% in the FY-16 spanning from April 2015 to March 2016 and is followed by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (78.45%).

During the last financial year, OPGC’s consistent efforts to maintain efficient power production at its Ib Thermal Power Station in Jharsuguda district has aided Odisha in meeting the power requirements in the state.

Currently, OPGC is operating two thermal power units of 210 MW each at its Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS) in Ib Valley area of Jharsuguda district.

It is worthwhile to mention here that OPGC is expanding its capacity with a capital outlay of Rs 11,547 crore by setting up two units of 660 MW capacity each at Ib Thermal Power Station which are under construction. The said units are scheduled to be commissioned towards the end of the 2017-18 fiscal.
