Bhubaneswar: Amidst the growing clamor for a change in leadership of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), the team supporting the current PCC president today targeted Leader of Opposition (LoP) Narasingha Mishra demanding his ouster and a complete overhaul of the party.

Senior Congress leader Sura Routray said if Prasad Harichandan, the current PCC president, is asked to vacate his post, the same should also apply for others, including the LoP.

“If party national vice-president Rahul Gandhi wants change of guard in the OPCC, all including LoP Narasingha Mishra should be removed,” he said.

On the last day of the visit of the AICC team of observers to Odisha to take stock of the situation, the party leaders from across districts pressed their demand to make Niranjan Patnaik the next PCC president.

Instead of individually discussing with the AICC observers, Congress leaders from various areas, including Cuttack, Jagatsingpur, Basudevpur entered into the Congress Bhawan in groups and spoke in favour of Patnaik, informed sources. Party MLAs submitted their demand in writing.

The AICC observers team has so far received views from over 300 leaders of the State in the last three days and will submit its assessment report to the party high command soon, said observer Jitendra Singh.
