Cuttack: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Prasad Harichandan met farmer Kalinga Ghadei of Jajpur district at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack today.

Ghadei, who is undergoing treatment at New Medicine ICU after attempting suicide, is currently critical.

After meeting him Prasad said that the government should accept the farmers’ death in State and pay compensation. Along with this agriculture loan waiver and increase in support price can help in curbing the deaths, said Prasad.

Talking to media persons he said, "The government should pay the loans of farmers, it should waive the loans and to curb such incidents interest free loans should be given to farmers so that they will not turn to suicide for being burdened by the loans."

Ex-MP Ramachandra Khuntia was also present with Prasad during the visit.
