Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered a case against sports administrator and secretary of Odisha Olympic Association (OAA) Ashirbad Behera in connection with Barabati stadium land grabbing case.

Official sources said that, a case has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 120 (b) and 420 against Behera, M/s Incon Associates and unknown officials of OOA.

The development came hours after an eight member team of the CBI conducted raids on the house of Behera, OOA and three other places in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar today.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had ordered a CBI probe into illegal construction of a kalyan mandap and 23 shops by OOA on government land and also financial irregularities on April 3, 2017.

The audit had expressed reservations about the fiscal management of 23 shops and the kalyan mandap on the disputed 0.075 acres of government land.

Behera, who was the general secretary of the OOA since 1988, was embroiled in the controversy after Orissa High Court initially directed the crime branch to investigate into the affairs of the OOA in 2014. Behera had challenged it in the Supreme Court and got an interim stay order on it on January 22, 2015, sources said.
