Paradip: One student drowned while another was rescued in a critical condition after both were swept away by the strong sea current near Nehru Bangla in Paradip.

According to reports, nearly 40 students of IIIT in Gothapatna on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar came here on a pleasure trip today when the two  students went to take bath near Mahanadi river mouth, close to Nehru Bangla.

The duo, identified as Himanshu Rathore and Srinath Ghose of Bhopal, was reportedly dragged into the deep sea by a huge tide. While locals rescued Ghose, Rathore remained untraceable for several hours.

Later, though Rathore was also rescued and rushed to Biju Memorial Hospital here, he was declared brought dead.
