One-sided love affair costs youth his life

Rourkela: Unrequited love took an ugly turn, when a youth was beaten to death allegedly by the family members of a girl he was in love with at Jagdishpur village under Kuanrmunda police station here last night.

Sources said one Arbis Ekka of Baniguni village had fallen in love with a girl of Jagdishpur village and proposed her a few days ago. The family members of the girl had beaten the youth for the same.

Last night, when Arbis came to know that the girl’s marriage was being solemnised with another youth, he rushed to her house to disrupt the marriage. The situation turned violent when Arbis had a war of words with the family members of the girl.

Later, the girl’s family along with a few locals allegedly started beating him black and blue. The youth reportedly died on the spot.

Meanwhile, a complaint has been lodged at the Kuanrmunda police station in this regard. The police have begun investigation into the incident.
