One more minor raped by auto driver in Baripada

Baripada: Despite hue and cry from several quarters over the recent cases of rape of minor girls within and outside the state, one more incident from Mayurbhanj district Wednesday night has shocked the state once again.

According to reports, a minor tribal girl was allegedly raped by an auto driver near Thakurmunda area here last night while she was returning home with her family after visiting a religious event Uda Parba. After her parents got off the auto, the driver drove away the minor on the pretext of parking his vehicle at a nearby place and raped her.

When the girl didn’t turn up, her family members searched for her and later found her lying in a bushy area with injuries.

Receiving information, police rushed to the spot, rescued the girl and admitted her to a hospital. She has been taken for a medical examination.

The cops, however, got hold of the accused after an FIR was lodged. Irate over the incident, locals blocked the Thakurmunda-Anandapur road by burning tyres disrupting vehicular movement in the area for sometime.
