Cuttack: The number of dengue deaths in Odisha went up to fivewith the death of a patient at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here this afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Chaturbhuja Parida of Atuda village under Jagatpur police limits.

With this, three dengue patients have died in SCB Medical College while two other patients had died at Barbil Community Health Centre (CHC) in Keonjhar district.

Reports said till date, blood sample of 2978 persons have been tested at the SCB Medical College of which 596 persons have tested positive.

As per latest report, 160 patients have been admitted in the dengue ward of SCB of which eight have been admitted in the ICU as their condition has become critical.

Taking note of the gradual rise in the number of patients, the hospital authorities have increased the number of beds in the dengue ward to 175.
