One killed as Nor'wester wreaks havoc in Balasore

Balasore: One person was killed and several asbestos and tile houses were damaged as Nor’wester rains accompanied by hailstone showers lashed many parts of Balasore district Saturday evening.

As per sources, one Satrughna Das of Majhikia village in Padmapur panchayat under Chandipur police limits was killed when a branch of a tree fell on him.

Several trees, electric and telephone poles were also uprooted in the storm, throwing normal life out of gear.

Besides, communication and power supply were disrupted due to snapping of power lines In some parts of the district following the Nor’wester rains.

Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy sky in several places in next 24 hours.
