One killed, 4 injured as car hits tree near Kushabhadra bridge

Puri: One person was killed and four others, including a woman, injured when the car they were travelling in rammed into a tree on the roadside near Kushabhadra bridge in Puri district early this morning.

Sources said all of them, including the deceased identified as Nanda Kishore Mohapatra, are residents of Bhubaneswar. They were returning to Bhubaneswar from Puri via Konark during the wee hours today.

The incident took place when the BMW car, in which they were travelling, lost control and dashed against a tree near the Kushabhadra bridge. Receiving information, fire brigade officials rushed to spot and admitted the injured persons to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Later, three of them were shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The Ramachandi police are investigating into the incident, sources added.
