One dead, 2 injured in group clash in Rourkela

Rourkela: One person was killed while two others sustained critical injuries following a scuffle over past enmity in Malgodown area under Uditnagar police limits here on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Biswal. The other two injured, Sanjay Srivastav and Sonu Sahu have been admitted to Ispat General Hospital and both are stated to be under critical condition.

Reports said tension escalated between two groups last evening owing to some past rivalry and turned into an ugly brawl.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Uma Shankar Das reached the spot and took control of the situation.

Apprehending any untoward incident, police forces have been deployed in the area. SP has directed Uditnagar police to investigate and arrest the culprits.
