Cuttack: The commissionerate police, probing into the murder of Dipu and Om, the close associates of the Dhalasamant brothers, got a vital breakthrough on Wednesday after it traced blood stains on the wall inside a room in Khuntakata farmhouse near Athagarh.

Reports said a team of commissionerate police, led by Pramod Rath, ACP, Special Squad and accompanied Ajay Das, IIC of Chauliaganj police station and a scientific team, took Arif Khan, a sharp shooter and close associate of the Dhalasamant brothers, to Khuntakata farmhouse in the morning for further investigation. After reaching the farmhouse, police interrogated Khan on the murder of the two associates. After an hour-long interrogation, Khan showed the place where the duo was murdered.

The team later conducted a thorough search and found blood stains on the wall inside a room. The Forensic team later took the blood stains and sent it to the State Forensic Laboratory in Bhubaneswar.

Sources said the forensic team will conduct DNA test of the blood stains to ascertain whether they belong to Om and Dipu.

Notably, police had brought Khan on six-day remand on Tuesday.

Khan was arrested by the commissionerate police from Madurai in Tamil Nadu on April 14 after it came to know about his complicity in the murder of Om and Dipu during interrogation of other associates of the Dhalasamant brothers.

Soon after his arrest, he was sent to 14-day judicial custody after being produced in the SDJM court here.

The court later allowed the police to take Khan on a six-day remand on Tuesday.
