Bhubaneswar: In a major development in the ongoing probe into the chit fund scam involving Oscar Group, which has produced a handful of Odia movies in the past, it has come to fore that actor Tatwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu Pompom had taken Rs 2.5 lakh loan from one Prabhas Rout.

This information the actor has provided in his poll affidavit in 2014 wherein it is mentioned that the actor had taken the amount from Rout as ‘personal loan’.

Though identity of Rout, the actor has mentioned in the affidavit, is still unknown, it is believed that he could be the chief of Oscar Group, who has produced at least four Odia films. These films were produced by Oscar Group chief Rout under the banner of Oscar Films.

Satpathy had unsuccessfully contested 2014 Assembly polls from Champua constituency in Keonjhar district.

While the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch has already begun investigation into the Rs 230 crore scam, the actor had said he would co-operate with the officials during investigation.

Talking about the investment of money by Oscar chit fund company in Ollywood industry, he said a number of Odia movies have been made with the chit fund companies earlier.

“But the fact remains that no one had any knowledge about the activities of chit fund companies at that time. As a result, lakhs of people have invested crores of money in chit fund companies,” he added.

He said the Ollywood actors, like other people, were also unaware of the real activities of these chit fund companies.
