Old structure of historical Emar Mutt bulldozed

Puri: A day after a portion of boundary wall of Emar Mutt collapsed following heavy rains in the pilgrim city, the municipality’s staff today razed the unsafe parts of the age-old Mutt building.

In presence of Puri district administration officials, the municipality personnel bulldozed the mutt building.

Yesterday, the portion of the historical building’s wall adjacent to Mati Mandap Sahi caved in following heavy rains for last couple of days. Besides, a house adjacent to the wall also collapsed.

Four mutt officials had a close shave as they were fast asleep in a room close to the collapsed house.
