Odisha’s Manoj Maharana enters Guinness World Records

Bhubaneswar: Odia boy Manoj Maharana is now on cloud nine as the youth from Ganjam district has broken the Guinness World Records title that stood unbeaten for eight years.

Manoj of Bhabarada village of Polsara block has set a new record by stuffing 459 drinking straws into his mouth and holding them for ten seconds. Simon Elmore had held the previous record by stuffing 400 straws during the Mark ‘N’ Simon Show in Germany.

Official sources said, it is a tough challenge as the participant is not allowed to use hands to support the straws. However, participants are allowed to use elastic bands to keep the straws together.

Earlier, Manoj had stuffed 21 lit candles in his mouth during a show before the sub-collector on May 23, 2017. He had also tried to create record for stuffing most number of grapes into the mouth by stuffing 90 grapes at a time.

In another variation for the record a challenger is allowed to fit more straws into his mouth using their hands.
