Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today decided to launch a ‘Biju Gaan Radio’ scheme soon to provide information on agriculture, irrigation, cooperatives, health, education, crisis management and culture to farmers of the State.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed officials in a meeting at the Secretariat here to execute the community radio plan after a presentation in this regard was made by OUAT vice chancellor Dr Surendra Nath Pashupalak.

The community radio will broadcast its services for one hour from 6-7 pm daily. The broadcast will be repeated at 8 pm and 9 pm.

As per the plans, the Chief Minister’s message ‘Apanka Pain’ will be broadcast for 10 minutes once a month.

The community radio will be operated by agricultural science centres and broadcast government programmes, welfare schemes and necessary information.

Among others, Development Commissioner R. Balkrishnan, Revenue Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Cooperative Principal Secretary, Panchayatiraj Secretary and Animal Resources Secretary were present in the meeting.
