Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to seek technical knowhow from the Chicago University in energy efficiency and pollution control.
This was revealed during a meeting between a delegation of the University witih Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, Energy Secretary Rajesh Kumar Varma and other senior officials at the Secretariat here today.
Briefing mediapersons after the meeting, the Development Commissioner said the state government had a recent engagement with the Chicago University during the recent visit of James Nye to deliver his lecture at the Odisha Knowledge Hub.
Stating that the Chicago University with its India Centre in New Delhi has a strong presence in the country and is currently working on certain areas like energy efficiency and environment pollution in many states, he said the Odisha government is now looking for a possibility of a collaborative relationship with the University with an overworking kind of arrangements that will cover various areas, including the energy field.
“In the long run, the government also looks forward for collaboration with the Varsity for capacity-building training on specific areas to our officers to give them international exposure. But these are in the preliminary stage. We will let you know once things are worked out,” Balakrishnan said.
