Odisha to host Tennis Premier League

Bhubaneswar: Sports lovers have a reason to cheer as Odisha Tennis Premier League (OTPL), the biggest tennis event of State is scheduled to kick off at Kalinga Stadium here from November 19.

The tournament will continue till November 23. It will be organised by Neelachal Tennis Academy, one of the leading tennis academies in the country affiliated to Professional Tennis Registry in the US.

The trophy of the OTPL was unveiled here on Monday in presence of players of different teams, mentors and other sports dignitaries.

Total 32 players of eight teams will take part in the mega sporting extravaganza. The teams are Angul Acers, Bhadrak Victors, Cuttack Conquerors, Khordha Warriors, Kendrapara Contenders, Puri Wavers, Sambalpur Shooters and Sundergarh Veerans.

Players have been categorised into four groups - A, B, C and D. While Players in ‘A’ Group will get Rs 50,000, Group ‘B’ players will receive Rs 40,000. Similarly, participants from ‘C’ will be given Rs 30,000 followed by group D players who will get Rs 20,000 for playing in the tournament.
