Odisha should have a special force in lines of NSG: DGP

Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP RP Sharma today emphasised on formation of a special force in Odisha Police in line with the National Security Guard (NSG), during an event to felicitate a team of 50 NSG commandos, who had arrived at Bhubaneswar as part of their motorcycle expedition to spread the message of collective responsibility towards fighting terror.

The NSG has been able to create a benchmark for it in sectors other than counter-terrorism activities. National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC) of NSG has achieved international recognition through its work, said Sharma.

Similarly, efforts should be taken to create a special identity for Odisha Police, said the DGP adding, "NSG is an example for Odisha Police and we should also create such institutions or some special forces where we also achieve high level of success."

During the event, NSG Deputy Commandant Amit Kumar said, "The fight against terrorism is a collective responsibility of the forces as much as the citizens of India."
