Bhubaneswar: Normal life in several parts of Odisha has been adversely hit due to intense cold wave conditions prevailing for the past couple of days.

Several parts of Odisha shivered under biting cold as the mercury dipped to 3.5 degrees Celsius in Phulbani while Bhawanipatna recorded a minimum temperature of 7.5 degrees on Friday.

The mercury dropped by 2-3 degrees in coastal Odisha due to cold wind from north-east direction.

Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast that the cold wave conditions will prevail in the State till January 9.

"It is almost becoming difficult to step out of homes before 9 am due to fog and intense cold wave conditions that is continuing even in the first week of January, said Kishore, a resident of Jeypore.
