Bhubaneswar: The State government today announced that 10,854 hectares land in three districts- Jajpur, Jagatsingpur and Puri- were affected by unseasonal rain that occurred on December 9 and 10. The concerned Collectors have been directed to undertake relief measures in the notified areas.

5,436 hectares in three blocks of Jagatsinghpur district and 2,149 hectares in two blocks of Jajpur were affected, while in worst-hit Puri crops in 3,269 hectares of land in four blocks were damaged in rain caused by a depression, a notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management department said.

The notification was issued based on the reports of concerned Collectors taking into account losses of 33% and more.

Out of the total affected land, 7,667 hectares are rainfed while 3,187 hectares were irrigation-dependent, the notification said.
