Bhubaneswar:  The Odisha government announced changes to the Odisha Medical Service cadre in which the total number posts have been increased to 6,719 from 5,389. The total positions for the post of special secretary have been increased to 2 while number of directors has been increased to 12 from 5.

In the pay-band 4 category, the number of doctors has been increased to 434 from 35.

Following the changes, there will be 4 specialist doctors at every community health centres. The CDMO and public health officers will spearhead healthcare services in the districts across the state. Similarly, at the block level, the block health officer will lead heath services.
