Bhubaneswar: Odisha has witnessed four percent deficit rainfall of 207.9 mm in June as compared to the long term average or normal rainfall of 216.5 mm, said the Special Relief Commissioner office today.

Eight districts namely Jajpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj and Jagatsinghpur recorded deficit in rainfall between 19% and 39% during June, the SRC office said in a media release.

Dhenkanal is the only district in the state that recorded scanty rainfall with deficit of 44%.

Meanwhile, Malkangiri, Boudh, Bargarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Sambalpur and Subarnapur recorded surplus rainfall of more than 19% in June, the release mentioned.

Normal rainfall occurred in Kandhamal, Deogarh, Nuapada, Rayagarh, Nabarangpur, Jharsuguda, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Angul, Kalahandi, Bhadrak, Khurda, Puri districts during the month.
