Bhubaneswar: A high-level meeting in connection with suspected Maoist movement in Satkosia forests, which spreads from Narasinghpur in Cuttack to Angul, was held today in Bhubaneswar under the chairmanship of DGP RP Sharma.

A blueprint on joint combing operations by District Voluntary Force (DVF), Special Operation Group (SOG) and other security forces was prepared in the meeting.

Special Director and ADG (Intelligence) Arun Kumar Sarangi, IG (Operations) RP Koche among other high-level officials of Odisha Police were present in the meeting.

As per reports, nearly 15 Naxals of Sundergarh-Deogarh-Sambalpur division are roaming in the area. They have taken it as a secure zone due to anti-Naxal operations and presence of central paramilitary forces in other parts of Odisha.

The area being closer to human habitats is also favourable for the Maoists, said sources.
