Bhubaneswar: National Women’s Commission (NWC) member Sushma Sahu, on Thursday, lashed out at the State police for its biased approach towards the Parbati Sasmal case.

Sasmal of Kalikuda in Jagatsinghpur district, was allegedly attacked by BJD supporters for handing over a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a road show in Bhubaneswar. Sahu met Sasmal on May 4, and later met police DG and handed over details related to Sasmal's case.

"The Odisha police has not done an impartial investigation into the case. The police are rather trying to shield the political party and people involved in assaulting Sasmal," alleged Sahu.

Earlier, the State BJP Mahila Morcha had written to NWC following which the commission had sent two of its members to the State to look into matter.
