Koraput: Member of the Odisha Planning Board and winner of ‘Equator Initiative Award,’ Kamala Pujari was admitted to Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) in Koraput today after she complained of difficulty in breathing.

According to reports, Kamala is also feeling pain in her waist, stomach and chest. Earlier, last week Kamala had fallen unconscious at her house, informed sources.

"We are conducting some tests on her. After the medical tests are over, she will be shifted to a special ward and a team of doctors will be monitoring her closely," said Koraput CDMO, Lalit Mohan Rath.

Rath further informed that if the team of doctors suggests, Kamala will be shifted to a hospital outside Koraput for better treatment.

"Though there is pain in my waist, chest and stomach now, I am feeling a little better than before,' said Kamala.

56-year-old Kamala of Patraputa village in Koraput district won the ‘Equator Initiative Award’ in South Africa in 2002 for preserving hundreds of local varieties of paddy and promoting organic farming.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik appointed Kamala member of State Planning Board in March this year to make her the first tribal woman to hold such post.
