Bhubaneswar: Plans are being chalked out to use computers at the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across Odisha to provide better healthcare services, said Sam Pitroda, IT Advisor to the State government on Tuesday.

After a meeting with the Chief Secretary at the Secretariat here, Pitroda said, “The idea is to see how Information technology could be used to improve healthcare services in Odisha. We reviewed the present status in terms of software for hospitals, electronic health records and telemedicine.”

Pitroda also discussed with Health Secretary Aarti Ahuja and secretaries of other departments the use of IT in the health sector.

At present, total 1,308 primary health centres are functioning in the State.
