Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Mahila Congress on Saturday staged a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan here against Central Government’s decision to withdraw LPG subsidy.

The agitation was led by the Mahila Congress president Sasmita Behera, along with other members and workers of the party. The protest gradually stirred up after the members burnt the posters and placards of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Speaking to OTV, Sasmita said, “We are protesting against the Centre's decision. The protest will be intensified in all districts and blocks if the government fails to withdraw its decision."

"We strongly condemn the decision of the Prime Minister to hike the price of LPG by Rs 4 every month. A memorandum will also be submitted after we meet Governer SC Jamir,” added Sasmita.

Alleging a big conspiracy behind the decision of the Central Government, PCC President Prasad Harichandan said, “The price of LPG has been hiked 22 times in these three years even though the price of per barrel reduced from 102 dollars to 52 dollars in the international market.”
