Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Bill, 2015, after being returned without approval by President Ramnath Kovind, is being reviewed by the Law department. The Revenue department has sent the Bill to the Law department for review prior to presenting it again in the Assembly.

"It has been sent to the Law department for a review. The department will study it and present it in the Assembly. Further course of action will be decided thereafter," informed Revenue department secretary Chandrashekhar Kumar.

The Bill seeks to make land grabbing a “cognizable” offence.

Introduced in the Odisha Assembly in 2015, the ruling party had arbitrarily passed the Bill and had sent if for assent of the President of India. However, it was returned citing there are some errors in the Bill then as well.
