Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Worldfish, a Penang-based aquaculture and genetic improvement organisation, to improve fish production in the State.

As per the agreement, Worldfish will provide technology and necessary skills to increase quality fish production in the State for five years from 2016.

Odisha government will invest Rs 22 crore in increading fish production in the State. It has targetted doubling fish production in the State in five years.

The agreement was signed between a representative of Worldfish and s State government official at the Secretariat here in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Notably, Worldfish, based in Malaysia, has its activities in Bangladesh, Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar and some other countries.
