Bhubaneswar: The dearness allowance (DA) for Odisha government employees has been hiked by two percent after a proposal in this regard was approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.

With the current hike applicable retrospectively from January 1, 2018, the DA will effectively increase from 5 to 7 percent.

Further the Dearness Relief (TI) for State government pensioners/family pensioners has also been hiked by two percent. Similarly, the TI of pensioners/family pensioners who were not receiving pension as per the pre-revised rates has been hiked by three percent.

The State Finance Department in 2017 had revised the pension/family pension of pre-2016 and post-2016 State government pensioners/family pensioners and the Dearness Relief (TI) was allowed on such revision.

The move came after the Union Cabinet hiked the Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners by two percent. The DA hike for central government employees was in accordance with the accepted formula based on the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
