Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today announced enhancement of welfare funds for police personnel from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made this announcement while addressing the annual conference of Odisha police havildar, constable and sepoy confederation.

"The state government has always been sympathetic to your demands and we will take a considerate view on this. I am glad to announce enhancement of grant to the welfare funds of police personnel from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore," the chief minister said.

Besides, Patnaik stressed the need to maintain high standards in delivering public service by lower rank police personnel. "I would be happy if constable and sepoys display cordial and responsive attitude towards people," the CM said, adding that the havildars, constables and sepoys are the face of police force before the public as they come in contact with people on a daily basis.
