Bhubaneswar/Bangkok: Bringing laurels for Odisha, noted Odia doctor, Sarat Chandra Mishra has been conferred with the Glory of India award by India International Friendship Society, a voluntary organization working for the welfare of people of Indian origin across the world.

Mishra was given the prestigious award by former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Korn Dabbaransi at a programme held in Bangkok on May 4.

Speaking on his achievement, Mishra gave credit to his profession and social service.

"It is only my medical profession and service to humanity and social works that I have been able to achieve what I have now. I have undertaken a number of health camps including the one, when a record 120 patients were operated," Mishra said.

Mishra has been working as a specialist orthopaedic physician at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar since last 13 years. Besides, he has also served as assistant surgeon at various district headquarters hospitals of the State.
