Bhubaneswar: With only few days left for clash of the Odisha team against Tripura during their Ranji match of the season, members of the home team are quite hopeful to perform well.

Newly-appointed coach of the Odisha team Shiv Sundar Das said, “Focus is to start off well with the match against Tripura. Though we could not get enough practice as the Kalahandi Cup was not hosted this time, we will try our best to do well.”

The home ground advantage will boost the morale of players, said Das adding that he is satisfied with players’ efforts though practice began only 15 days ago.

As the new coach of the State team he will try to bring in more awareness among players about fitness and performance so that they can make it to major league championships at the National level, said Das.

Earlier, he was assistant coach for the Odisha team.

Meanwhile, Odisha team captain Govinda Poddar said, “Batting line-up is quite strong this season as Natraj Behera will be playing for us in the top order.”

“Apart from practice, team effort will help us to succeed in the Ranji matches,” Poddar added.
